James,

The numbers you quoted for the K2 are for 20Khz spacing.  The 
numbers Ten Tec quoted are for 5 Khz spacing.   As you can see, 
the Orion has close in performance that is unmatched by a long shot 
by any other popular radio.

Take a look at the close in composite noise too.  The Orion is better 
at 2 Khz than the K2 at 20 Khz.  This contributes to even better close 
in performance.  At a glance, it looks to me like the synthesizer in the 
Orion meets or beats some of the best analog VFO/PTO's for low 
noise.
