You might be able to de-gunk the Corsair by submerging the whole radio in a
vat of kerosene for several months. Otherwise the only way to do it
properly is to dismantle the PTO.
It is possible to remove the PTO without removing the front panel. Set the
rig on its heatsink and remove the main tuning knob and dial skirt. Within
the hole thus exposed, one can remove the two screws that hold the PTO in
place. Be sure to make note of the wire connections to the PTO before you
unsolder those wires.
Follow the instructions provided by Ten-Tec for dismantling and reassembling
the PTO.
