Guys,

Place a few diodes (i.e., 1N4007) in series with the +13v to the
fan and watch the noise disappear!

The reality is, it doesn't take much air movement to keep the rig
cool and dropping 3 or 4 volts to the fan reduces the noise
enough to effectively cut it in half!

This is a 30 cent mod.

Interesting that ARRL found the fan to be noisy in their review.
Well, I just ordered one, after thinking about playing with some
digital modes -- so I wonder if I'll get one of the "noisy" ones,
or one
of the "quiet" ones :-)
