Seems like everyone's off eating Turkey, Jeff.
We don't celebrate thanksgiving over here in Germany, so I didn't get any
(sniff).

Anyway, as I recall, the Ten-Tec mics never had an amplifier.
The battery was previously used for the electrolyte capsule.
In the meantime the newer radios have +9v on one of the pins of the mic
connector for this purpose.

I NEVER used any preamplifier with my 444 and it worked with ALL of my
Ten-Tecs, OMNI V thru VI+, Jupiter, and Orion.

73 and happy T-Day,
Rick

Thanks to all you guys who responded to my query about the best mic setup
for the Omni 6 --- one more thing --- the Tentec mic is amplified (because
it uses a battery) --- does that mean I should try and use some kind of
amplification ahead of the radio if I want to try a Heil element or a D104
or a Shure 444? (I have all three mics). By the way, Happy Thanksgiving to
All.

Thanks,
Jeff (KX2P)
