"With the ARRL 160M contest starting tomorrow, this is probably a good
time to encourage all Orion cw users to set the cw rise/fall menu
setting at 8-10msec to avoid generating keyclicks.  There's an
as-yet-to-be resolved question about how TenTec calibrated Orion's
scale, but in any event, several of us have verified on the air that
8-10msec is the range that is needed to avoid generating keyclicks.
This setting holds true for all recent firmware releases, including
today's v1.372"

Barry, et al,

I have no Orion, but read the online manual, and it says that when using
an external keyer your slowest rise time selection available is 5ms. Is
this true? If so, it defeats the the encouragement you posted?
