Bob, Have you tried a master reset after the 1.372 update? This might take care of the atrifact on the dispaly and the probem with the s meter. Also, a Ram Clear might be the next thing to try. Your 's is the first I have heard with the s-meter problem. The dead spots are common with this update, but does not seem to bother me that much.

The improved RF gain and Qsk are worth sticking with the new version for me, but Ten Tec will send you the old version if you want it. Just call and ask and they will email it to you. Toby W4CAK

Hello,

I've run into the following twice now after updating to 1.372, after
making a change to the rf gain:

1) The S-meter suddenly falls to min. scale and stays stuck there.
2) Adjusting the rf gain no longer has any effect, although the numeric
values displayed change as usual as the multi knob is rotated.
3) A visual artifact appears, a short vertical bar in the upper left
hand corner of the RF Gain value cell.
4) Otherwise the rcvr continues to function. I still don't understand
why the S-meter acts so oddly when rf gain is reduced to the lowest
value (1) - it rises to S9 at minimum gain, signal or no signal.

It happened about an hour or so into operation both times. Cycling power
on the rig restored sanity.

Has anyone else observed this? I suspect that the (new) combined AGC
threshold/rf gain/S-meter minimum management thing is simply blowing up
on me.

Between this and the "dead spot on BW control" issue, I'm ready to
regress to 1.371, which was flawless (at least for me, and managing the
AGC threshold from the RX menu was no big thing). Since I don't actually
have the file for 1.371, will ten-tec furnish it if I call them up and
ask? I don't see previous versions available for download on
rfsquared.com.
