Ouchhhhh!!! That is actually pretty sad to me. However my Titan 3 is still under warranty as I've had it less than a year. But I bet you hit exactly on the problem with my amp. Every time I get it back, it seems to work just fine for three or four day, but when I have had it turned on for long period of times, that seems to be when the problems occur. Long period times probably means something is getting heat soaked and then fails. BTW, the Titan 3 tubes are around $100 each; it's my original Titan 425 that has those $500 + buck tubes in it!

I think I must have been extremely lucky back in '92 when I bought a fabulous Omni 6 and the Titan 425. Those two pieces of gear are just plain good ole workhorses. I certainly can't say that about my Orion and Titan 3. Live and learn, as the saying goes.

"Thanks John...I hope TEN TEC can find the problem! So far replaced
all six burned out cathode resistors, then a burned out transistor
and a screen resistor, etc. They keep saying a 'momentary short in
one of the tubes' but refuse to replace them so far. They will
eventually get it right. This is my second Titan 3 in a year! The
first one was DOA, but TT graciously took care of that (with a
little persuading!).

When it's working, man, it's a tank and really works excellent!

Boy, do I ever hate to tell you this: momentary arcing in one of the tubes
was what they told me about the Titan. What it really was was a cold solder
joint in the p.s. board, the arcing of which resulted in the destruction of
one or both of those $500 tubes.
