Someone suggested using the PROC button to activate the roofing. When in cw mode, it still supplies DC voltage when activated but of course the processor is inactive. The cw mode voltage can be picked off the control board an fed into a logic gate along with the proc voltage to activate the filter by pushing the proc button while in cw mode. Then you couldn't use the roofing filter when in SSB mode using psk-31 so we are back to square 1.
Hmmm. what about that VOICE button? Maybe......

OMNI VI plus and option 3 versions) puts the roofing filter in line.

        Seems like a major goof by Inrad.  I have N4SU's Omni VI which
I am checking out before I sell it for his XYL.  It has the special
Ten-Tec 221 250 Hz filter centered on 9.000500 in the Narrow position
for those like a low pitch (the 219 won't center if you set pitch to
400 Hz).  If someone were to install Inrad's roofing filter as
currently implemented, they have 2 choices:

1.  Leave the 221 in and live with the fact that you would never be
able to have anything but a 250 Hz bandwidth when you engaged the
roofing filter and 250 Hz is not very practical for general tuning.

2.  Remove the 221 so that depressing Nar only engages the roofing
filter.  Not a nice solution since then you can't use the 221.

        The alternative of a separate switch for the roofing filter as
you suggested is very good.  Then you could engage it AND separately
engage Nar when you wanted the 250 Hz 221 inline.  Hopefully George
will get feedback from his beta testers and come up with a better
solution before he goes into final production.
