I know that for that kind of money I'd rather buy an Omni VI (Opt. 3 or
Plus) with all the filters. The Omni VI receiver runs circles around the
746... Heck, even the Corsair I got after the Omni has a better receiver
than the Icom... The Omni VI has a better receiver than the Jupiter as well.
I got rid of my Icom 756 in favor of the Omni VI and I'm very happy about
the switch. For occasional SWL'ing I use a general coverage "boatanchor"
receiver.

My opinion, and subjective experience with side-by side comparisons +
looking at receiver measurement data sheets. I don't own a Jupiter, but
listened to one while considering it versus the Omni. I still preferred the
Omni VI.
Your subjective mileage may vary...
