It was brought to my attention that I made a negative comment on a Palstar
matchbox in one of my recent posts - which was not my intention at all.

I was trying to make another point and in the process, was a bit clumsy in
expressing my opinion.

The Palstar box I bought and used was the AT4K, one of the most rugged and
best tuners on the market and highly recommendable for unbalanced
(asymmetrical work).

As my needs were exclusively for symmetrical (balanced), I sold the AT4K and
eventually found another Annecke.

The problem was, I bought the "wrong" box, not a bad box. This is what I
should have stated!

The point of my original comment was to make others aware that Palstar
builds both symmetrical and asymmetrical tuners and if you buy the wrong
one, you will not be as happy as if you had bought the right one. Beware
not to repeat my (expensive) mistake.

As someone else pointed out (I think it was Rob), Palstar now makes a
balanced-L which simultaneously tunes a roller inductor in each leg of the
balanced feedline. This is the box you should choose when buying a Palstar
tuner for balanced feedlines (not the AT4K).

I've just taken a closer look at Palstar's homepage (www.palstar.com
<http://www.palstar.com/> ).

The Asymmetrical tuners begin with "A" (e.g., AT1KD, AT4K, AT5K, etc.)

The Symmetrical (Balanced) tuners begin with "B" (e.g., BT1500A).

This is the one users should select if their primary focus is on matching
openwire fed antennas.

My other previous statement saying the right balanced tuner had the letters
"bal" in its name is no longer valid. Palstar has updated its product line.

"The BT1500A is a dual-roller balanced L antenna tuner that fills the void
for a matching network up to 1500 watts pep for balanced line antennas. For
ease of use the BT1500 utilizes only 2 controls to operate for tuning with
two direct-coupled precision ceramic roller inductors. As on all Palstar
tuners the front panel and top cover are powdercoated."
