I recently installed a single-point ground system, for lightning and
surge protection. I used the Polyphaser PLDO box for the AC line,
which is very well built, but not cheap - $170. It protects the whole
station, including computers, and that makes the cost easier to
justify. In my view, you need a good low-Z ground system, including
protection for phone lines, antennas, rotators, etc. A surge arrestor
referred to the green wire will add some protection against AC line
events, but not against many other threats.
