If sellers, i.e. Best Buy, etc., thought they might incur some liability 
then they would be the ones to pressure the manufacturers.  Perhaps letters 
to the sellers are in order.

I very much agree.  Perhaps a lot of letters and e-mails to Ed Hare at
ARRL.ORG will get the concern off of dead zero.  I know he has his hands
full with the BPL issues at present.  On the other side, it is a real
problem, although minor, as compared to the number of non- Duet and non-
Neptune {Whirlpool and Maytag} washers being sold.
