Buck,
I have used the same method you state here, but I always have the Main RX
mode set the same as the Sub RX mode when doing this. On My ORION II, I've
not been able to replicate the problem of transmit frequency shift when the
mode of the Main and Sub are different, so I'm still working to figure out
what can make this frequency offset "bug" work. I've pushed buttons and
followed the directions I've read here, but so far have not found the right
combination of settings to get the shift in transmit frequency.

What I was trying to say in my post, is that it would make sense for the
Main RX to set the mode of the Transmitter all the time, and then the SUB or
the MAIN could set the frequency. As it is, either Sub or Main can set the
mode as well as the VFO frequency. I suspect it is this dual mode
capability that makes the anomaly of frequency shift possible. Not real
sure though.

No, no, no

I use the Sub as the TX and listen on the main. In contesting I want to
set
my CQ transmit frequency and use the best receiver to hunt around for the
callers. Using the Main RX to listen for stations off frequency is better
and
easier to adjust than the RIT.
