Call the great folks at Ten Tec and ask who paints their cabinets and see if they'd be willing to repaint yours.

If that doesn't work, the company that painted Drake's old cabinets is still in business. I don't know if they'd be willing to duplicate the Ten Tec finish, but you can ask. They're Hartzell Manufacturing in Miamisburg, Ohio ( www.hartzellmfg.com ).

If you'd like to do it yourself and your cabinet's in reasonably good shape without big chips and scratches, a simple overspray of dark satin gray can work well. Enough of the original texture will show through to keep the finish looking fairly original.

If a complete DIY repainting is necessary, Rustoleum's Hammered Gray (7214) is an attractive alternative to Ten Tec's pebble finish. If you want something a little less dramatic, try Duplicolor's DE 1651 Cast Coat Iron engine enamel from your auto parts store. It's a very classy looking paint.

Another route to explore is powder coating. There may be someone near you who does this and will happily find a near match for your cabinet finish. Powder coating is very durable and attractive.
