Jerry makes an excellent point about renewing the contact of the screws 
grounding the circuit.  I have heard of others curing PTO jumping frequency 
by this method.

Aluminum oxidizes almost immediately after cleaning due to reaction to air. 
A good joint mechanically, excludes some air.  Eventually, every screw 
mechanical connection may loosen over time.
