On most mics the shield will be mic ground, NOT PTT return.

I have wired a few mics to the Orion by wiring shield(mic ground) to the 
appropriate mic ground pin, and wiring PTT return to the mic shell(under one 
of the screws).
It has worked fine here with 500 watts out, no issues.

Has a mic been made which has shield as ptt return?

I have never had one if there are any.
