When I'm contesting with my Omni VI's at 5w, I've got fans running across both radio's heatsinks. They still get warm even at 5w; not hot, just warm. And they are definitely on when I'm doing the digital modes. I use 5" muffin fans behind and above the radios. Works great. The airflow just happens to come out over the tops of the radios giving me a nice, gentle (not eye-drying) breeze as I operate. 73, Dale, kg5u |
