Thanks Rick for the quick reply.

I looked at the info there, and it helps, but I think what I'm struggling with is the function of the spring-loaded metal tab and it's gear - it presumably (when engaged to the main VFO shaft gear) prevents the VFO shaft from turning (which is why I thought I had a VFO problem in the first place), and I'd imagine it's function is to help adjust the alignment of the VFO frequency with the indicating dial, but I don't see any way to control the gears from the front panel (on some other rigs of the era, you'd have some kind of button or knob that would temporarily decouple movement of the tuning knob from movement of the indicator dial, allowing for adjustment.) I think my problem is that I can't see how from outside the rig you'd be able to control position of the spring-loaded tab, so it isn't clear how to position the related parts during reassembly. Perhaps there is a piece missing (the rig wasn't really complete when I received it - I patched 12V into the internal power bus (power supply parts missing) and found it is able to receive, so I'm encouraged to continue forward with it.

Very tks,

I'm working on bring a Century 21 carcass back to life and I'm a little
[PARA]puzzled by the VFO dial mechanism - I thought the VFO was in need of
[PARA]rebuild, but it appears instead that the gears were not properly
positioned, [PARA]preventing the VFO from moving normally. Unfortunately the
Ten-Tec VFO [PARA]rebuild information I found doesn't elaborate on the
proper assembly of the [PARA]VFO dial mechanism. If someone familiar with
this would be able to assist by [PARA]e-mail, I'd be grateful for the
help.[PARA][PARA]Very tks,[PARA][PARA]73 Dave WB0GAZ
