I also had a "noise only" sub receiver in my O2. I thought perhaps I had a
weird setting on some parameter, but I was stumped. I sent it back to the
factory, and they could find nothing wrong, and suggested I didn't have an
antenna connected to the sub receiver ( incorrect assumption). It worked fine
when I got it back. However, this weekend, it happened again. Unlike the last
time, where I cycled the power, master reset and super-secret reset with a T-T
tech over the phone, this time cycling the power fixed the problem.

I did learn one thing. It would be cheaper to drive down there with it the next
time it quits.

had a similar problem once - the sub-receiver would work only
intermittently and when in the failed state generated a harsh noise.
After trying master reset etc. I finally "fixed" it by re-seating the
sub-receiver board and all of it's cable terminations and have had no
trouble since (2 years ago). It might be worth trying if all else
fails.
