Google serial to USB.  I did that for parallel to USB and found a CablesToGo
adapter with postage for less what CablesToGo wanted.  A vendor evidently
wanted to clear some stock.

I have been using "CablesToGo" (www.cablestogo.com) that cost about $20 and 
it works for my Orion II.  I have also used it successfully on a original 
Orion, and E-Trex GPS and a couple of others.  It works with Windows XP and 
Vista.
