hi,

I learned a few years ago to avoid all of the new gee whiz ways of
payment. I state right up front in any of my listings that the buyer
has two ways of paying: U.S. Postal Money Order or check. I also
state that if payment is made by check then they must wait for the
check to clear before I ship their purchase. Usually I get payment by
the former method. Sometimes the customer will want to call me on
the landline and chew the fat for an hour. That's fine. This
reassures him I'm a real ham and I live where I say I live and
everything is on the up and up. When I get the money order (and I
have already told them all this in my terms of sale) I ship the item
immediately by FedEx and send them a tracking number. I also give the
buyer an opportunity (but very brief opportunity, like a week) to
return their purchase if they are not happy and they didn't run over
it or drop it in a full bathtub or something. Never had a return, or
a deal that went sour this way. But I have been burned fooling
around with all that junk you mentioned in your email. When it comes
to buying and selling, I think the old ways are better, for me at
least. Of course anyone who doesn't want to pay my price or do it my
way is free to move on. There will always be a buyer eventually and
radio gear has a long shelf life.
