I too tried (owned and used) almost everything else around, though hardly 
the 45 years you waited.  And I never found a transceiver that would come 
close to equalling the CW performance of  my Viking II + Drake 2b until I 
got my first T-T, a Triton.  Next came Omni D.  Same ultra-quiet and 
sensitive receiver, but much more versatility. And now a  Six - more gadgets 
than I know what to do with, mainly the full crop of filters, really a plus, 
and still the QSK to rival the unbeatable 2b.  Troubles with any of  them 
over the years have been far rarer than with any of the big J-three, and 
service, both telephone advice and back-to-home, is everything they claim. 
Quite refreshing after some experiences with (I won't name names.).  Plenty 
of good Omni D's abound - try one and find out for yourself.   Dave, K3TX
