According to the inflation calculator at http://www.westegg.com/inflation/,
What cost $600 in 1964 would cost $3971.50 in 2007.

The one at data.bls.gov/cgi-bin/cpicalc.pl  says it would be $4,240.37 in
2008.

pse give me an idea, what $600 in radio equipment back in 1964
would sell for today.  I am assembling a dream station from when
I was in high school - National NCx5 and ncl2000 - the
transceiver was  $685, Sep 1964 - the NCL 2000 was $585 I
believe, shortly thereafter.
