Hello.

Anyone know if the Rack Mount Kit for the Omni will work with

the Jupiter?

I see from the specs that:

(HxWxD) Omni Vll is (5.0x12.0x14.75)
         Jupiter is (5.0x12.125x13)

tnx.

I'm looking for a manual for the Ten-Tec Model 229 antenna tuner. Does
anyone have a scanned (.PDF or .TIF) file of the manual you could e-mail
me.

I have had good results with the Hy-Gain AV-640. It requires no guys,
at least for those of us who don't live in the hurricane belt (winds of
70-75 mph or less) and is designed to be mounted at least 8 ft above
ground. Mine is on a 10 ft pipe mast.

Anyone know the relay switching speed of the 6+? I want to use it with a

non TT amp that is not set up to use the tx in/out jack on the radio.
Is the relay output jack on the radio quick enough to run a qsk amp? I
have the amp switching around 3ms. Has anyone built a interface box that

can be fed with the tx in/out jacks that outputs into a rca jack for the

amp relay?

Just looking for options
Amp is a ALS 600 with the QSK mod

Thanks in advance

The TXEN TXOUT jacks are for a keying loop..... think "a series of
contact closures to enable the transceiver to go into transmit". most
likely either the QSK mod will work with the TT keying loop or you can
add a reed relay to pull the amp into transmit.

The relay output jack is just a NO contact that closes when the Omni is
put into transmit by PTT or VOX. It is not designed for QSK switching.

Hi,

I finished the upgrade of my 2001 Jupiter today with no problems.? The
PLD change went smoothly and then the new chip from Ten Tec went in
easily.? I found the instructions clear and accurate.

Above a certain S-level, the decoder works well.? The only glitch this
weekend was the RTTY contest, which would have been tough to handle on
CW in any case.

Anyway, I am satisfied very much with the upgrade.?

I am saving money for a new OMNI VII or a used original Orion.? Don't
know which is the better buy, but I'm sure people on this board have an
opinion and I'd be interesting in knowing your views.

Could not make it to the Ten Tec Hamfest this weekend due to lots of
rain here in North Carolina and a tight work schedule.? Next year again,
for sure when I pick up that new OMNI VII.

Rick

Rick,

Thank you for your report to the group.

Can I take it then that you did not change your green screen for the
blue one? If this is so, would you be so kind as to provide your opinion
as to why you did not?

I am in the process of purchasing both, but am considering on not
replacing the green screen. This is the basis for my question.

I do not have the new memory chip in my Jupiter. I installed the PLD
update
and then installed version 1.30. It does not have the CW keyboard
feature
or CW decoder in it. I thought I could load 1.30 to get the CW keyboard
and
decoder and lose AM and FM, and then go back to 1.29 if I wanted AM and
FM.
But both versions have AM and FM and no CW keyboard or decoder. Has
anybody
been successful getting the CW decoder and keyboard working without
getting
the new memory chip? What am I missing?

I received S/N T 072 today.

As Jim observed, it was well packed and triple boxed for shipping.

The Ten-Tec logo is facing the correct direction as far as I am
concerned
but it is a slightly crooked plastic glue-on part. For the price, I
expected something better.

I have two other bencher paddles that have a smooth crisp feel and I
love
them. After spending a lot of time trying to adjust the new T-T paddle
to
get the same results I find that there is something different. The feel
is
"OK" but I do not love it.

Yes this is very subjective and YMMV.

Carl,

I am another person who had a problem loading the new RUF file. It
loaded
in about 23 seconds, but then the program never ran to do the balance of
the
work. The-Tec is sending me the "GO" chip to temporarily install to
update
the radio and then I can replace it with the new chip I bought from
them. I
notice in the directory 538v1300.ruf and 538cwv1010.ruf. I could not
find
anywhere what they are for except possibly doing what you are trying to
do.
The 538kbd.ruf is about twice the size of the other two files. Do you
or
anyone know what the 2 other RUF files are for? Thanks.

73,
John

The 538v1300.ruf file is for Jupiters that have the extra memory and it
has
both personalities in it. The 538cwv1010.ruf file is the CW personality
for
Jupiters that have the old memory chip like mine. But the update
program
will not load 538cwv1010.ruf in my Jupiter for some unknown reason.

For Sale: Orion (the original version) with antenna tuner (the LDG
internal
Orion tuner) and 705 microphone. This rig has the modifications
suggested by
Ten-Tec for the band scope (done by me). Rig is a 9.5 out of 10 and
comes
with the Ten-Tec additional parts bag and manual. All this can be yours
for
the amazing low price of $2300 plus shipping!

I'm letting it go due to financial exigencies. Currently in use; if
you'd
like to hear it on the air, let me know and we can arrange a sked if the

aether allows.

73,

Joe, W2RBA

John,

It's been a little while now. Are you still sure you have fixed your

Can someone give ALL of us Jupiter owners a ...1,2,3...process. All of
this
PLD file stuff, etc.. doesn't get it.

I'd like a definite procedure list from Ten-Tec on how it works, and
needs
to be done. I'm hearing horror stories about blank screens, etc...
Too
many variables for me to be comfortable with.

Do I need to download direct? If so, how? Give me a procedure list.
(e.g.plug A into B, do this or that, hit this button, etc...) Let's make
it
user friendly, not a darn puzzle.

Lets dumb it down a bit for us non-computer techies.... I will take the
step, but only when I know I won't screw my radio up. I've just
recovered
from an IE8 debacle....FYI... don't load the 8 Beta! Some sites want
it,
but the normal sites don't, and won't support it. What a mess!
