The capcitors could be at fault or the pass transistors.  Power off and 
unplug. You can check junctions of the transistors (maybe out of 
circuit) with an ohm meter, or diode test function.  It could have been 
a failure of the bridge rectifier itself.  How old are the filter 
capacitors?  If 10 years, you should think about new ones.
