the part that goes into the pistol does not come with the rebuild kit.

that's ten tec part number 90202

this is the part with the threads that go into the pistol

the shaft that the main tuning knob attaches is part number 90201 and
that part IS included.

looking at the rebuild instruction that came with my last rebuild kit,

part number 90202 is not included with the kit

the instructions say:

"this procedure is written for right hand core drive rods used in most
ten tec pto's. However, models 580, 579 and 2510 use left hand core
drive rods and therefore when performing steps marked with an
asterisk (*) you should reverse the direction in the instructions."

The tuning knob turns a shaft coupled to a thin, brass shaft by a
means. The thin shaft extends to the back of the PTO unit. That
shaft has
large threads which pass through and move the piston into and out of the
coil. The 580, 579 and 2510 PTO shafts have left-hand threads while
of the other rigs have a right-hand thread. I just dug several out of
closet and gave them an eyeball examination. Though my memory is dim,
eyesight is OK.
