Not to be fussy, but the complete answer is that the Omni VI and VI+ can use
either the RS-232 (thanks for reminding me, Ken), or the ICOM CI-V standard
interface. I used the ICOM with a home-made converter built from a QST
article from the early 90's. I had completely forgotten it also had RS-232.

The Omni VI and VI+ use regular RS-232 serial communications. If you
have a regular serial port on your computer you do not need any level
conversion. The pins used on the 25 pin D connector for TX data, RX data
and data ground on the Omni VI are probably not standard, so you may
need to build your own cable.
