I have a Corsair Ii and one needs to make sure you have POWER, ALC and Mic gain 
up to get power out.  To me the manual was a bit confusing, but now that mine 
radio is set, I'm happy.

I too am looking for the aluminum inserts, but Ten-Tec has none.
