Rob,
I have not seen a problem such as this with my 6 (opt 3).
Interesting. I will confirm tonight.

I noticed something interesting for the first time about my Omni 6
option 3. two nights ago I dropped out of a phone qso on 3885 to go
to bed. My usual practice is to "listen out" while I power down the
transmitting gear, scope, SB610 etc. but keep the 75A-3 on listening,
to prolong the fun. Well the guys said something to me and just for
fun I thought I'd quickly fire up the Omni 6 and use cw to tell them
I'm still listening (not thinking that without a BFO they wouldn't
hear anything) so I did, and put it on a DL first to set the power
level out etc. Well I could not get more than about 15 watts out of
it on 3885 on CW. Scratched my head and checked everything--nothing
wrong; no boo boos, so I put it on 160. Got 90 watts out no problem.
Put it on 3550 (all this on the DL): same thing, 90 watts.
3700--slightly lower output. 3885--15 watts. I wonder if 80 m. is
divided into two tuned output networks and one for the low end of the
band is automatically switched in when the mode is CW? Have not had a
chance to study the schematic yet.
