OK... quite true, but you seem to be missing the point.

Sheesh...The point is... it is an advertising photo, the purpose of which is to show what the radio looks like. It is not intended to be an "anatomically correct" image of an actual station.

So to single out and criticize TT specifically for such a purported faux pas, overlooks all the similar mistakes made by the competition.

The original post especially singled out TT for criticism because it has a microphone attached to a rig tuned to a CW frequency and mode.

But, heck, the competition all fail to connect anything - neither a mic nor a key - but no one complains because all their settings do not all jibe.

The point is, of course, that the rig in the advertising photo does not have to be all set up for it to be a useful ad photo. The other companies hook nothing up, but no one complains they show a rig that cannot work as advertised. And so, the fact that the rig in the TT ad is not set up to work exactly as advertised is equally irrelevant and immaterial. But for some reason, it has become a topic of debate.

As Paul says, they never show the radio with an antenna, either. Are they to be criticized because they are, apparently, going to transmit without a load?

OK, so look a bit more closely. The mode on the screen to the right of the
frequency is definitely CW. So now where's the mistake. Also looks like the
bandwidth is at 500 or 600 Hz (My old eyes can't tell the difference).

Details, boys, details.

Here's what I found interesting: Several months ago, Ten Tec ads used to be loaded with
spelling and punctuation errors, like using an apostrophe for plurals ("The menu's
are..."). The complainer on qrz.com didn't seem to mind that. (I sent Ten Tec an
email and said that, in view of how elegant their products are, they should at least hire
a proof reader for their ad copy. Errors like that don't inspire confidence. Since then,
their ads have been perfect.)

The other thing I noticed is that the complainer proclaims that he has been a
follower of the Urantia book (unless I'm misreading his qrz page). I can't
imaging that anyone who falls for that would be capable of much critical
thinking. But that's just my take.

I don't know if anyone else on this reflector spends any time on the
www.qrz.com forums. But it seems that one of the forum moderators took note of
the September QST ad for the Eagle, and has started having a little bit of fun
with it. What's the problem? The radio as pictured is tuned to 14.060... and
there's a hand mike shown, but no key. Obviously a BIG mistake... right. But
see for yourselves, if you're interested...
