Could this be the result of sub-optimal or
        inappropriate filter selection for the
affected radio? If operator "error" or
inappropriate adjustment, what would one look
        for to ameliorate the problem?

I suspect it was more the operator and his adjustments.

Interesting... that was what started the
thread ! I am confident operator dissatisfaction
was the result of being unfamiliar with the rig,
        ergo less than optimal settings.

I wonder whether or not different antennas,
different filter settings, and lower power could
have ameliorated any problems the CW guys encountered
at our site. I would like to devise a plan to try
in case it happens again - merely repeating what we
did last year is unacceptable - I wanna have something
to try - otherwise we won't ever solve the problem.
I would rather try something that fails, than
        do nothing.

I also wonder whether operator error is a substantial
cause, as I think both the K3 and various Ten-Tec
radios employed are all pretty good and there are
many contest and DX-pedition stations which
successfully operate multiple radios on a single
band, which suggests the crux is something extrinsic
        to the rig.
