On mine it was the ovenized crystal on the main board that the heating winding shorted to ground
I replaced that with new TCXO from TenTec
Pricey but what a difference!
If they no longer have it there are alternatives available at a much lower cost

Subject: [TenTec] Omni VI Help

Hi everyone. I need some advice on an Omni VI I picked up at an estate sale. It's a nice looking rig, loaded with filters, but it will not power up. It is shorting the DC voltage to ground it appears. Took it to a friend's house and hooked it to an Astron
30 amp supply and the voltage dropped to zero!! Darn!!
So can anybody give me some advice as to what to look for or should I just bite the bullet and send it to Ten Tec??

Thanks in advance, Dave K9UX
