Hear, hear!

The question of whether to buy radio A, B, or even C comes up often, on this list and on those of other transceiver manufacturers and models. We should be able to help the person asking the question down the right road to a meaningful decision. Data may be factual, as in specs and reviews, or anecdotal, such as "The noise blanker in radio A is more effective that radio B."
Or, "The audio in radio A is better than radio B.
Anecdotal observations should be qualified as one man's opinion.

It should not be necessary to trash another brand or model, or to toss out slurs like "Jap radio" or "rice box." Even with my shack being mainly Ten-Tec, Elecraft and Drake, you bet I'd like to have a TS-990 if I could spare the $$$$. And I just bought a TS-2000X at Seapac last month, but that's the VHF+ part of my operation. Circumstances (the Ten-Tec mega-sale) have convinced me not to sell my Eagle, and I think the shack will be better for it.

I don't know if any of you are on Facebook, but if you look at some of the mega-shacks that are featured in the photos there, you'll see a good mix of brands, both American and Japanese. My favorites are the photos of shacks where there is also a mix of vintage and modern radios, with Drake and Collins being my own favorites.

Maybe if we could follow these loose guidelines, the list would remain civil.

I would suggest a trip through the archives but, unfortunately, they are not as easily-searchable as those on YahooGroups.
