*Barry,*
* I do understand your point about wanting to test the filter
and confirm the gain and specs. But, what you would or would not pay or do,
doesn't affect the price of these filters on Ebay or from individual Hams.
This higher price factor, along with the Proven Dependability of the older
Tec Tec Rigs. Along with the prestige of ownership, keeps the prices a bit
above the KenYaeCom rigs of the same vintage. However, if you look at the
selling price of Any of the older Rigs? The old Kenwood TS-530 is a great
example. Their are many out there who would much rather have an older and
easy to operate rig. Now also factor in the fact that it is so Easy to get
the General Class ticket now, and you will see why I valued the rig that
high. Everybody wants to talk but not everybody has a couple of Thousand to
drop on a new radio. My personal Omni D with no extra bells and Whistles is
out on loan to a fellow Ham. Just for the Rig and Microphone, I have turned
down $350.00. In part because this fellow is a Friend who can use the Radio
for the next 50 years if he needs to. And also the fact that this
particular Omni D was lovingly restored by me and I know that the Elmer who
left it to me, would want me to make it available to New Hams until they
decide on what to buy or become financially able to do so. So, I do get
your point but, that does not change the fact that $50.00 will not buy a
Ten Tec Filter. And a good Omni D will bring the prices I quoted. We see it
everyday.*
