Good Grief Rick,,

The transmitter change was done because of YOU, hah, no, just kidding.

It was done for two reasons. (well, three, depends upon how you look at it,
could be 2, could be 3.... read on)

To use the same 100W PA section on the Eagle and the OMNI-VII, higher qty
purchasing, equating to more profit. Also more reliability and fewer
components to stock, easier to debug problems since they both use the same,
etc., etc. etc.

Components,

Going from bipolar to FET did bring it by design better TX IMD, something
that people were asking for, It was only a dB away from your magical
requirement number for TX IMD. BUT, funny thing was, even with TEN-TEC
making the change, and identifying the improvement, well, there was no
fanfare about it or no one claiming in discussion forums or presentations
that followed it regarding TX IMD and it's evil that TEN-TEC listened and
improved the airwaves when no one else at the time did, oh well......

Anyway, gotta run, have an Eagle Firmware Update in beta test now, hoping
to get it out this week or next.
Fan Noise, and ALC action improvement.
Then, an OMNI-VII firmware fix for the remote CW macro transmit losing
characters issue, THEN back onto HRD for some digital mode work. ah,
dontcha just love the smell of "bits flippin'" in the morning? lol, (ok,
who recognizes that phrase...... I did take a bit of "author discretion" in
changing two works, well....
