This is definitely the wave of future radios,-- direct sampling.
Icom has one, and others, can Ten Tec be far behind?

A real world critical review of the ICOM 7300 seems to indicate that it may be OK for casual operation, but not for anything serious, and that some of the advertised features aren't all that they're cracked up to be.

The Flex 6500 and 6700 radios are a different animal -- a LOT more expensive, but you get what you pay for. With their powerful remote control possibilities and the Maestro making a major improvement to the user interface, a handful of serious contesters are adopting them, and more are likely to follow.
