Some progress made - I experimented with the value of R-1, the 15K resistor
on Control Board that goes from S-Meter Zero pot wiper to the S-Meter positive
terminal. This resistor acts as a multiplier for the meter. I used a pot
initially and arrived at an S-Meter behavior very much like the 505 Argonaut
with an R-1 value of 4.7K The model 315 and Argonaut 505 share some nearly
identical circuits. So, anyone wishing to have a more "typical" reading (more
lively) S-Meter can replace R-1 with a 4.7K. I saw no effect on the "R"
voltage, or anything else that I could tell. I may install a 15K trimpot,
wired as a variable resistor, in place of R-1 instead of using the fixed 4.7K
resistor. My thinking on this is that in my next endeavor to increase the
effectiveness of the AGC (to eliminate some slight distortion with strong
signals) the end result will be a higher AGC voltage being developed to drive
the "R" voltage lower. This in turn will make the S-Meter read higher so
adjustment to R-1 value will be needed again (to increase it a little). Any
Model 315 users out there?Byron W5FH
