Everyone who needs/wants V5 on top band should be able to work these boys.
They are located at a lighthouse, on a cliff, on the west coast, with
nothing but ocean between them and the US. The 160 xmit antenna is an
inverted Vee arrangement with the center at nearly 250' and the ends dropping
down to where they are still over 100' above the ocean, right at the cliff's
edge.
Last night's operation netted between 300-400 Qs. For quite some time, the
operator was Bill, KV0Q. Today, they will put up the rest of the antennas,
including one for 80 meters, and their Beverages (last night was inv-V for
xmit and rcv).
>From what I heard, they probably cleared 80+% of USA 160 ops last night
alone. One "problem" is that their signal is so good, it seems anybody with
a piece of wire is hearing them and jumping in! Well, stick with it! You'll
get through. Emphasis is definitely 160 and 80 as soon as the sun goes down.
Good luck!
