Spoke to Chris, ZS8IR today on 20M long path. He will continue to be on
160 M as often as he can now and will continue to use 1822 QSX up. Says
he usually starts arnd 03Z but copy here has been from 0330Z on thru and
after his sunrise.
Has worked 330 stations on top band now, including recent first contacts
with VK6 and JA. He will be QRV till the changeover ship picks them up
in early May.
He's using the base of a broken Battle Creek special vertical, together
with wire to make a 5/16 wvl inverted L hung from one of the commerical
rhombic towers. Unfortunately, the feedline of 300 foot of coax may have
some moisture in it and it limits his power out to 200 w. The
changeover ship, which usually arrives and stays for a couple of weeks
will bring a new tuner (and hopefully some new feedline) for Chris to try
tuning the rhombics for top band etc for his last couple of weeks.
He really don't a great job putting Marion in a log of low band logs -
congrats!
