answer listed below-
My question was, "Anyone have info/experience using RG-6 as the balun
(sorry..quarter wave transformer) between 52ohm coax and a 160 meter full
wave horizontal loop? Can it handle legal limit?"
1. According to my Times Wire & Cable catalog (before they became Times
Fiber), RG-6 can handle 2,000 watts average at 10 MHz, and 800 watts at
50 MHz. RG-213 numbers are 3,700 and 1,300. --
2. Thats really pushing it Henry. It is roughly equivalent to RG8X in
voltage breakdown. I have used it at the KW level on 10M with no problem
but also arced thru using as a 4:1 balun on a 80-75M wire log-yagi.
These days I just use it for TV jumpers and feeding Beverages.
Interesting-- We'll try it at CQWW and I'll let you know---
