I was tuning about below 160M checking the Beverage, and on 1.640 MHz I
heard a very loud second harmonic of the local NPR outlet (on 820 KHz),
which is neither physically close to my QTH or directly in line with the
two-wire Beverage. The signal was strong on both the NE and SW Beverage.

I could _not_ hear this signal at all on the inverted-L, nor on my 80
meter dipole.

Is this indicative of problems with the matching transformers feeding the
Beverages? This is a 2-wire Misek-style Beverage, with reflection
transformer at the far end. It seems to be doing the job, as indicated by
signal-to-noise performance, and good front-to-back. I am hearing Europe
well with the NE side.

I'm not sure what material was used in these cores, but I may be able to
find out from the original user later this week. I'm planning to build a
set of spares this week, and want to avoid make them work as well as possible.
