I realize the following has nothing to do with elevated radials. Excuse
the deviation from engineering speculation.
I had a QSO with KH8/N5OLS on 12 meters today. He said his 160 meter
antenna is down but should be back up soon.
3DA0CA had an excellent signal last night. He was peaking S7 on my 69
degree beverage. I refrained from calling for another QSO. He had
trouble copying and giving R3 reports to some. I gave him a call and got
a 579. I think I had some "spotlight" propagation.
YB0ARA/9 on 1826 khz this morning about 1115 GMT. I could copy parts of
his call. I only called once and decided I would wait for another day.
It sounded like he was having better propagation to other areas.
I thought this information might be helpful for those chasing these
several stations who are stalwarts on 160. Good luck.
