Off and on for the past few weeks, I'm pretty sure WDOD in Chattanooga has
been popping up on various places in the 160 band. It was up around 1900
kHz last week. My only verification is the fact that the audio on this
intermittent signals is an exact match for audio on WDOD, but I have never
gotten a clean ID from the distorted audio.
It sounds like a raspy modulated signal with poor note that cuts on and
off, being present only on audio peaks. WDOD is on 1310 kHz, and has a
licensed power of 5 kW.
Before I make any calls, I would like to verify that it is indeed WDOD
causing the problem. Tonight it is on 1830, with "junk" extending a few kHz
up and down. If anyone else hears this stuff and can correlate the audio to
the audio of WDOD or any other AM BCB signal, please e-mail me.
It comes and goes, sometimes clearing up for hours on end (or perhaps it
moves to a new frequency out of the way).
