I made a comparison for a season between two standard 15' high x 38' long
EWEs pointed towards Europe with a separation of about 130'. The only
difference was I laid a wire on the ground and tied it to the two ground
stakes on one of the EWEs. . The front to side seemed to improve noticeably.
Also there seems to be less noise with the grounding wire. I am on rocky
rolling terrain in New York. Can only go down 3-4' before I hit solid rock.
