John K4IQ argues that without teeth the 160 bandplan, gentlemen's agreement
version, wont work. This is part of the sooner or later reality John. Sooner
or later there will be reglatory action to create mode sub bands on 160.
Will it come sooner or later. It will probably come sooner than some think,
and later than those who will be paying the price with an uneven playing
field would like it to. Maybe just another good reason to support the
regulatory action when it does happen.

When they (read FCC) hoists new regulations on us, they usually pass them off
as progress, modernization, or something that sounds good. If we subscribe
to the theory that mode separation will be good for the band, then we should
also easily come to the conclusion that here is progress that isn't
masquerading under false colors. We have all gone through the disappointment
of FCC progress. The dumping up of the license exams, countless others. Here
is a bit of potential progress that represents something healthy for the band
we all love. In this period of financial and emotional challenge everyone
asks the question how much is it going to cost and what do I get for what I
have to pay. If your going to pay a price for progress at least this time
your getting something this time that "is" progress, and not just another
disappointment.

John says he will comply, but he knows certain others wont. The teeth will
be installed John, and the playing field will be leveled ...... sooner or
later. Meanwhile John ... Look for your KH6 multiplier on 1845, At least
that one is in the bag.
