==========
In the original article by K5RP, he calls it a "Magnetic Slot Antenna".
First, this antenna is NOT a magnetic radiator.

Second, although he uses two wavelengths of wire folded back on itself,
the same antenna can be configured using only one wavelength of wire
without the foldback. In either configuration of the antenna, only the
vertical ends radiate while the horizontal portions cancel, therefore it
acts like a pair of wide-spaced verticals fed in-phase.

The single-wire version in the K4VX article has an extra wire connecting
the centers of the top and bottom horizontal wires. This antenna acts
similar to the bobtail curtain, with three vertical elements and double
the current in the center element compared to the end elements. Modeling
this antenna shows that is has about 4.1 dB more gain than a single
vertical. If fed 10% from the end of the bottom horizontal wire, it will
be a very close match to 50-ohm coax.

You said you have the space and height available for this antenna, and I
would say that it is definitely worth a try.
