My 38 ft top-loaded vertical is finished and I made 173 QSOs in the ARRL
'test running 5 W. Rad EFF is 25% and the effective GND loss is 20 ohms. The
next step is to try a "base-hat" in place of the GND. It will be identical to
the top hat but will be 3 ft above the ground. Four 6 ft spokes with a
perimeter wire and resonated with a 75 uH coil. Sort of like the MFJ and
Hygain verticals- any ideas on how well this will work compared to the 20 ohm
GND?
