Thank you very much for you help. I didn't expect such feed back from 160
meters enthusiasts. I got about a dozen e-mails in one day. In the summary
almost everybody suggests trying an inverted vertical with radials on the
roof. I will go with a quarter wave vertical wire first. I will use my 80
meters horizontal loop as the radial, which is located some 10 meters above
the roof. I am going to shorten the loop and drop a 40 meters long wire down
from the roof. I hope I will have time this weekend. In future I am going to
set up a receiving flag antenna in a month or so. Hope it works out OK.
