Just rx the following from Charlie as he apparently is on top band
trying to work EU before daylight:
George:
I got the amp going after a fashion. I can get 400 watts out with
makeshift
repairs but I only run 300 to be safe. It smells a bit but have been
CQing
for EU for 45 minutes now without a problem.
I am taking down the yagi first this morning. Then I am going to see
about
taking down the 160. If the yagi goes smooth, then I will leave the
160 up
until tomorrow when it has to come down, be packed and shipped all in
the
same day. I have to drill out all the rivet holes, wash the antenna,
telescope those sections that telescope, deal with the linear loading
wires
and get it packaged and shipped by CI Removals.
I will keep you informed. I do have a dinner with Woytek and Tamara
tonite
so the shift may be quite short but I will definitely be here at my
sunset
if the amp holds out.
It's a bit unclear to me from this mail whether he can be on at his
next sunset but I will take him at his final word in the last sentence,
hi.
I gather he will try to fire up abt his SS (1115Z or so) and hopefully
last for an hour or so, with reduced power.
We'll need a lot of good luck.
