         Len, I actually said it might be a BC image, caused by mixing
between the 9 kHz carriers in the European MW band.  We have the
same problem in North America but this occurs on exact multiples
of 10 kHz, since our MW BC stations use 10 kHz spacing.

         Here's a good thing for all to remember:

1.  For North American stations, avoid transmitting on 1818.00
(Europe cannot go below 1810 so 1809 is not an issue), 1827.00
and 1836.00.  Just 100 Hz offset from the exact multiples
will work fine with today's receivers and good ears.

2.  For European stations, avoid transmitting on 1820.00, 1830.00
and 1840.00.

         Of course the problem you noted could be a true harmonic,
which the offending station could reduce if they were made
aware of it.  However, my guess is that it is an image which
is virtually impossible to do much about (except avoid it).
